Politician's Pledge
We call for citizen politicians across the United States to uphold the tenets of the Clay4USA Politician's Pledge. You will recognize this pledge as the "Patriot's Mantra" as it appears in the book, Pure Patriotism, by Clayton Thibodeau, 2009.
The Pledge
1. If it impacts all the people of the United States equally, it is in the Constitution, or should be added to the Constitution by amendment.
2. If it does not impact all the people of the United States equally, it should be of no interest to the Federal Government.
3. The Constitution is not about the authority and power of the Federal Government, it is about the authority and power of the people.
4. The Constitution informs the Federal Government what it must do, so that it will know what it must not do: which is everything else.
5. We the people of the United States of America must stand together in defense of our Constitution, our Nation, and one-another, regardless our individual beliefs on the issues of the day.
6. We are united by our language, our borders, our Constitution, and our belief that we are all equally endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. This stands true, regardless our individual beliefs regarding the manner of our creation or the nature of our Creator.
7. Balancing the Federal budget is too low a standard; the Government must operate at a surplus, to be carried forward as a reserve against future calamity or to be returned to the citizenry in proportion to their respective contributions.
8. Professional politicians are unwelcome in a nation of free people.
9. If I am to call myself an American patriot, I must be willing to fight for the rights of others: to say and do things which I may find personally offensive.
10. No people can remain free in a country where property can be taken without consent from one citizen and given to another.
11. A government that imposes its’ will upon the people, or deliberately enters upon the private property of a citizen, without consent or a just warrant, is by definition: tyrannical.
12. If I am unwilling to stand upright for liberty, I am destined to kneel captive in servitude.
Clayton's Pledges
1. I will vote against legislation that does not comply with the Constitution.
2. I will fight to restore Washington to a Constitutional government.
3. My door will be open to citizens and closed to lobbyists.
4. I will fight in favor of term limits.
5. I will not vote on legislation I have not read.
6. I will support legislation that results in a "fair Tax."
7. Legislation passed in Congress must apply equally to all citizens, including our members of Congress.
8. The Federal Government must operate on a balanced budget.
